VERSE: When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. JOHN 16:13, NIV

In today's podcast, we're going to talk about Jesus' parting words to the disciples.

When Jesus gave the disciples their marching orders, He told them it would be better for Him to leave and for his Spirit to come and fill them to the point of overflowing. But then He said something even more audacious: This Spirit-filled life that I'm about to give you is better than anything I could ever do with miracles and signs or even talking face-to-face with you. They would be better equipped to hear and handle truth.

Remember how Jesus talked about how much He loved them? Well, now He was saying goodbye. And not only that—He was saying goodbye so they could have a relationship with Him that was deeper than they'd ever dreamed possible!

We live in a world where it's easy to feel overwhelmed by choice. When we try to make decisions, we are often faced with so many options that we just don't know which way to go.

But what if you could have a guide who would help you choose the best option? What if that guide could help you understand what the right decision looks like?

Jesus said that His Spirit is your teacher and counselor—a guide who will lead you into truth. And when you don't know what the truth is for a specific situation, He will continue to lead you toward it as well.

If you're looking for guidance in your life, remember that God has given us all the guidance we need in His Word—and through His Spirit.

The most important thing you can do to be more sensitive to the voice of God is to spend time with Him.

I know that sounds obvious, but I'm serious. If we want to hear God's voice, then it's crucial that we spend quality time with Him.

When Jesus was on earth, He spent all of His time with the Father. When He was tired and hungry, He went into a desert place where He could be alone with the Father. When He needed strength or guidance, He went back into the desert and prayed for those things (Matthew 4:1-11).

Jesus taught us that this is how we should live our lives too—to be constantly connected with God through prayer and communion (Matthew 6:6).

Holy Spirit, fill me with Your thoughts, acquaint me with Your ways, saturate me in Your presence. Help me to hear Your voice as You breathe into me moment by moment.
